Chemical Peel Q&A

What is a chemical peel?

Chemical peels are non-invasive treatments using acidic compounds to exfoliate skin and remove damaged or dead cells from the treated area. These compounds primarily target the top skin layer, or epidermis, but stronger peels may also reach the underlying dermis.

Since chemical peels involve skin layer removal, some healing time is necessary post-treatment, and it is crucial to avoid sun exposure during this period to ensure proper healing.

There are three main types of chemical peels:

Superficial Chemical peels: These are the mildest type, requiring minimal healing time and targeting the surface skin layer.

Medium-Depth Peels: These target minor acne scars, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, and sun damage with a healing time of up to two weeks, potentially causing swelling and redness.

Deep Chemical Peels: The most intensive, suitable for moderate to severe issues, with a recovery time of up to three weeks.

Benefits of Chemical Peels:

Clients appreciate chemical peels for their ease and efficiency, with no preparatory requirements and minimal disruption to daily activities. They address various skin concerns, including rosacea, scarring, acne, enlarged pores, hyperpigmentation, redness, and aging signs.
